Basic structure and composition

1. Abrasive layer:
The core abrasive is cubic boron nitride (CBN) (artificially synthesized superhard material, second only to diamond in hardness, but with higher thermal stability).
CBN particles are bonded into a grinding layer by a resin binder (phenolic resin, epoxy resin, etc.), and the particle size range is usually #80~#3000 (rough grinding to mirror finishing). 

2. Binder:
The resin provides high elasticity and vibration absorption, reduces impact damage during processing, and is suitable for precision processing.
The curing temperature is low (about 180~200℃), avoiding high temperature thermal damage to CBN (CBN heat resistance can reach more than 1400℃).

3. Matrix:
Commonly used aluminum alloy or composite materials, lightweight design to reduce centrifugal force deformation during high-speed rotation.

Core characteristics

1,High thermal stability: CBN still maintains high hardness at high temperatures, suitable for processing high hardness/heat-resistant alloys (such as high-speed steel, tool steel).

2,Chemical inertness: Almost no chemical reaction with iron-based materials (steel, cast iron), avoiding the "graphitization" wear problem when diamond grinding wheels process iron-based materials.

3,High cutting efficiency: CBN abrasive grains are sharp, wear resistance is better than ordinary corundum grinding wheels, and life is long.

4,Precision surface quality: Combined with the elastic buffer of resin, the surface roughness can reach Ra 0.1μm or less.

5,Low temperature adaptability: Resin binder has limited heat resistance (usually <200℃) and needs to be used with coolant.
